1. International Exchange Meeting for Young Researchers yInternational Exchangez

This satellite meeting is held the day before the Annual Meeting to facilitate interaction among young researchers from abroad and Japan. Participants are requested to make poster presentation. The poster for Neuroscience 2015 will do.
Participants will interact with each other through discussion about research topics and free conversation. Free snacks and drinks will be provided.

3. Workshop: “Publishing High Impact Papers from A to Z: Developing Communication Skills to Win the Game”

Publishing is a fundamental part of research and certifies scientific progress. How to publish high impact research is often missing from graduate education and therefore remains one of the paradoxical mysteries of scientific career development. This program will feature experts who will present the essential points of science communication for successful high impact publication relevant for the careers of postdocs and young investigators. Topics will include paper writing, peer review, journal strategy, publishing trends, and ethics of experimental design/replication.

5. Workshop: “Seeking for further development of Neuroscience Research: Possibility for launching an open access sister journal”
Sponsored by NSR committee & Neuroscience 2015

Neuroscience Research has been playing an important role in the field of neuroscience as an official journal of the Japan Neuroscience Society. In recent years, the environment of scientific publishing has been changing drastically, such as the growth of electronic and open access publishing. In this workshop, we would like to have an open discussion on possible actions to further develop our official journal Neuroscience Research, including the possibility for launching an open access sister journal. In prior to the free discussion, Ross Hildrew, Senior Publisher of Neuroscience section of Elsevier, will give and overview of the current publishing environment in neuroscience field, especially focusing on electronic and open-access publishing.

6. Special Program by Gender Equality Promotion Committee "Life and Work Balance” yGender-Equalityz

Gender Equality Committee has organized a round-table discussion, in which female and young scientists can discuss casually with senior researchers. First, Dr. Hideaki Takeuchi (Okayama University, Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology) will present his experiences, as a role model. After that, participants will break into small groups, to have round-table discussions with committee members. Topics will be “Lifework balance”, “To get independent positions”, “Positions for researcher couples”, “Foreign researcher in Japan”, etc. We will discuss in English at the table with a foreign participant.

The Union supports brain science in various opportunities, including planning of gMaster Plan 2014h and submitting reports for the Brain Science Committee of MEXT.
